Photos#

HEIC and HEIF are what modern iPhones produce, and they work directly — nothing to convert before uploading.
BMP and TIFF take a few seconds longer to appear. No phone or browser can read a TIFF reliably, so Keepr converts those two after they arrive rather than on your device. The upload itself is no slower; the only difference is that the thumbnail shows up a moment later instead of instantly.
The file you uploaded is kept, on every plan, and it is what a download gives you back — converting a TIFF and then throwing it away would leave you without one. Both the file you uploaded and the copy Keepr browses count toward your storage, so a 40 MB TIFF uses about 44 MB. You can remove the uploaded file later and keep the photo, the same way you can for any other original.
Videos#
MP4 · MOV · AVI · MKV · WebM
MOV is the usual iPhone format and MP4 the usual Android one; both are fine.
Not supported#
- RAW camera files (CR2, NEF, ARW and similar).
- Documents and PDFs — Keepr is for photos and videos.
- Audio files.
If you shoot RAW, export a JPEG or TIFF for Keepr and keep the RAW in your own archive.
What's stored#
Photos are stored at up to 1920 pixels on the long edge, and — on plans of 500 GB and above — the original file is kept alongside. Videos are stored at 720p, and video originals aren't kept on any plan.
TIFF and BMP are the exception: because those are converted after they arrive, the file you uploaded is kept on every plan, and it counts toward your storage.
What you get back when you download#
- A photo, on a plan that keeps originals: the original file.
- A photo, otherwise: the stored copy, up to 1920px.
- A TIFF or BMP, on any plan: the file you uploaded.
- A video: 720p, as stored.
- An album: a single zip file.
