Keepr Photos start conversations, and having those conversations in another app means the conversation and the photograph end up in different places.
Every circle in Keepr has its own chat.
One conversation per circle#
Messages belong to the circle they're posted in, and only that circle's members can see them. There's no shared inbox and no cross-circle visibility.
You can reply to a specific message, so a question and its answer stay attached, and react with an emoji when a reply isn't needed. Links you paste show a preview.
There are no direct messages#
Conversations are per-circle group chats. There's no one-to-one messaging in Keepr today.
If you need a private conversation with one person, that means a circle containing just the two of you — or another app. Worth knowing before you go looking for it.
How private it is#
Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, and visible only to the circle.
They are not end-to-end encrypted — Keepr holds the key, so chat is private from other users rather than private from Keepr. For a family talking about photographs that's fine; for anything needing a stronger guarantee, use a tool built for it.

Turning it down#
Every circle's chat has its own settings, for you alone:
- Mute it, so it stops notifying you.
- Hide it, so it isn't in your list at all.
- Separate switches for messages, new uploads and people joining, so you can keep the useful notifications and drop the noisy ones.
Muting is personal. Nobody is told, and the conversation carries on for everyone else.
Turning it off for everyone#
A circle's owner can:
- Switch chat off entirely for that circle, if it's meant for sharing rather than conversation.
- Limit posting to admins, so the circle can be used for announcements with everyone still able to read.
Useful for a large circle — a school year group, an extended family — where an open chat would be more noise than value.
What's kept#
Messages stay until they're deleted, so a circle's conversation becomes part of its history in the way its albums are.
