That is the whole answer to "how much have I used". Everything below describes what that screen shows you once you are there.
It is worth opening before you decide to move up a plan. Most libraries have more room available than their owners expect.
Your plan and each Family Hub get their own card#
The screen shows one card for every allowance you belong to. Your own plan comes first, then every Family Hub you are a member of. Each card reads as used of total, with a bar that turns amber as you approach the limit.
They are kept apart deliberately, and there is no combined total anywhere on the screen. A hub's gigabytes are not interchangeable with yours:
- Deleting photos from a hub frees nothing in your own plan.
- Only whoever pays for a hub can make that hub bigger.
A single headline number would be something you could act on and be wrong about. Which allowance a given photo uses is decided by the album it sits in, which is covered in how storage is counted.
What's using it#
Under the bar, your usage is split into parts that add up to exactly the figure above them:
- Videos and Photos, the browsable copies, which is your library.
- Print-ready originals, the full size files, on plans that keep them.
- Duplicates, every extra copy sitting in a stack.
Duplicates are carved out of the photo and video figures rather than counted on top of them, so nothing is counted twice.
If your space is disappearing faster than seems reasonable, video is almost always the answer. A few minutes of it can outweigh hundreds of photographs.
What you can free without losing a photograph#
Below the breakdown, the screen tells you how much you could get back and says plainly that you would not lose a photograph. That figure is your duplicates plus your print-ready originals. Both can go while every picture stays, because the browsable copy remains either way.
It is not an estimate of what compressing things would save. Keepr does not offer to shrink what you have already uploaded.
Two things to try before moving up a plan:
- Remove originals you have finished with.
- Review your duplicate stacks.
Album breakdown: which albums are heaviest, and who added what#
Further down the same card is Album breakdown. It opens a list you can read two ways:
- By album, ranked heaviest first, each with its size, its share of your total and its photo and video counts. Albums more than one person has added to expand to show each person's share.
- By contributor, one row per person, expanding into the albums they added to.
This is the screen for "where did it all go" when the four part split is not specific enough. It covers albums and people. Hub usage is answered on the hub's own card instead.
How much you added in the last 30 days#
Below that is what you added over the past month, and on your own card an estimate of when you would fill up at that rate.
The rate is the more useful of the two. A percentage tells you how full you are. A rate tells you whether you need to do anything about it.
A hub card also shows who is using it#
Every member of a hub sees the same card, not just its admins, and it names each member's share. That turns "we are nearly full" into a conversation rather than a mystery. Names and faces only, never email addresses.
The card also says whether you pay for that hub or somebody else does, and links straight into it. The same figures appear inside the hub itself: open the hub, tap the cog for Manage hub, and you will find the same used of total with Usage by member under it. That is open to every member too, not only admins.
Two things read differently on a hub card, on purpose:
- "You can free up X" counts only what you added. A hub's duplicates and originals belong to whoever put them there, and only that person can remove them.
- There is no estimate of when the hub will fill. With several people adding, one holiday makes any projection wrong.

Before you run out#
Keepr does not keep a permanent meter in front of you, so Profile → Storage is where you go to look. What it does instead is tell you when it starts to matter: a quiet line once you pass 80%, a line under the size estimate when a batch you have picked would take you past your allowance, and an email at 80% and again at 100%.
