Keepr Notifications in Keepr are all about things people did that involve you. There's nothing generated to pull you back in.
What you can be notified about#
Each of these has its own switch, and all are on by default:
- Messages in a circle chat
- Likes and comments on your photos and posts
- New photos added to albums you follow
- Invitations to circles, albums and Family Hubs
- New Moments, and likes or comments on yours — three separate switches
- The periodic digest
- "On this day" memories
- Replies from support
Turning one off doesn't affect the others, so you can keep invitations while dropping likes.
In the app and on your phone#
Notifications appear in the app, and — if you allow it — as push notifications on your phone or in your browser. Push is optional and asked for rather than assumed.
They arrive in your language#
Notifications are stored in a language-neutral form and rendered in each recipient's own language. Two people in the same circle each get theirs in the language they use.
They back off if you ignore them#
Worth knowing because it's unusual: memory notifications pause by themselves if several land without being opened, and resume the moment you open the app again.
The reasoning is that the thing you actually risk isn't an annoying notification, it's someone switching off notifications for Keepr entirely — which would also cost them invitations and messages from their family. Backing off protects the notifications that matter.
Emails are separate#
Two streams, each with its own unsubscribe:
- Lifecycle emails — occasional nudges about something you haven't set up.
- Memory emails — "on this day" content, capped at twice a week with a widening gap.
They're separate on purpose. Someone who doesn't want nudges shouldn't silently lose their memories, and vice versa. See What Keepr records about you.
Timing#
Anything tied to a date — memories in particular — is sent in your local morning, using your device's time zone rather than wherever a server happens to be.
